LISBON (PORTUGAL) (ITALPRESS) – Last night’s 2-0 victory away to Casa Pia has eased the pressure, but Rui Borges’ position remains uncertain.
Although the Sporting coach insists he has the club’s backing despite the recent criticism, his future may already be hanging in the balance.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Rui Borges will remain in charge for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk and next Saturday’s league fixture against Moreirense. However, his spell at the helm of the Lions could come to an end during the upcoming international break, with the club reportedly already considering alternative options.
Sporting currently sit third in the league standings with 21 points after ten matchdays, but risk falling nine points behind leaders Porto and four behind second-placed Benfica. In the Champions League, they have recorded two wins and one defeat in their opening three matches.
