At 39, the Argentine superstar leads Inter Miami to victory in the Campeones Cup, a trophy contested between the reigning MLS Cup champions and the winner of the Mexican League. The match at the Nu Stadium ended 2-0 in favor of the US side against Cruz Azul; Messi broke the deadlock in the 24th minute with a header from a Luis Suárez cross—marking his 100th goal in 115 appearances for Inter Miami—and later, in the 81st minute, delivered the corner kick that led to the second winning header, this time by Casemiro. It was a dream debut for the new coach, Kily González, and the fourth title of Messi’s American stint, following the Leagues Cup (2023), the Supporters’ Shield (2024), and the MLS Cup (2025).
