ALAMEIN (EGYPT) (ITALPRESS) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Alamein. The two ministers co-chaired the second meeting of the Egypt-Turkey Joint Planning Group. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the meeting was attended by representatives from the ministries of Investment, Trade, Petroleum, and Health of both countries. Discussions focused on strengthening economic, trade, and investment relations, with the aim of raising the volume of bilateral trade to $15 billion. Abdelatty also outlined measures taken by Egypt to facilitate Turkish investments, expressing hope for the creation of an integrated Turkish industrial zone in Egypt, particularly within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
The two ministers also discussed the possible reactivation of the “Ro-Ro” maritime link between the two countries and the strengthening of cooperation in the mining sector. At the regional level, Abdelatty and Fidan reviewed developments in the Middle East, Gaza, Sudan, and Libya, emphasizing the importance of intensifying coordination to reduce tensions and promote political and diplomatic solutions. Regarding the Palestinian issue, they reiterated the need to end Israeli violations in Gaza and the West Bank and to ensure unhindered access for humanitarian aid. At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers oversaw the signing of three agreements: the protocol of the second Joint Planning Group meeting, a document on cooperation to enhance logistics connectivity, and a decision regarding rules of origin within the framework of the free trade agreement between the two countries.
