BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – All options are on the table, except hanging up his boots. After celebrating the La Liga title, Robert Lewandowski has yet to make a decision about his future.
Interviewed by Polish TV channel “Eleven Sports,” the Polish striker — who will turn 38 on August 21 and whose contract with FC Barcelona is nearing its end — remained noncommittal about what comes next.
“I still don’t know what I’ll do. I’ve just found out I have 51 days left on my contract, so I still have time,” said Lewandowski, who on one hand feels he can still compete at the highest level, but on the other does not rule out moving to a less competitive league.
“There could be the option of going to a lower-level league. I’m almost 38, but physically I feel good. Maybe that opportunity could come up — I’m considering it.”
His friend Wojciech Szczęsny jokingly advised him to do as he did: retire first and then evaluate major offers afterward.
“I appreciate where I am and I’m enjoying it. We’ll see what happens, but one thing is clear: I will continue playing. I’ll listen to other offers and then make a decision.”
