CARDIFF (WALES) (ITALPRESS) – Aaron Ramsey has hung up his boots. At 35, the former Wales captain announced his retirement from professional football on social media.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make. After a long period of reflection, I’ve decided to retire from football,” Ramsey wrote. His most recent experience came in the second half of 2025 with Mexican side Pumas.
A product of Cardiff City’s youth system, Ramsey spent the majority of his career at Arsenal, where he arrived in 2008 and played for 11 seasons before moving to Juventus, where he stayed from 2019 to 2022. He then had spells with Rangers and Nice before returning to Cardiff.
With Wales, he earned 86 caps and scored 21 goals, reaching the semifinals of Euro 2016, where he was named in the Team of the Tournament. He also represented his country at the following European Championship and at Wales’ first-ever World Cup in 2022.
