ROME (ITALPRESS) – West Midlands Police have decided to ban Israeli fans from attending the Aston Villa vs. Maccabi Tel Aviv match, a round-one match of the Europa League, scheduled for November 6 in Birmingham. This measure immediately sparked outrage online, and the UK Prime Minister also took a stand. “This is the wrong decision. We will not tolerate anti-Semitism on our streets. The role of the police is to ensure that all football fans can enjoy the match, without fear of violence or intimidation,” Keir Starmer wrote on social media. UEFA officials also opposed the ban, calling on the UK authorities to ensure “that fans can attend the match in a safe and welcoming environment.”
