NEW YORK (USA) (ITALPRESS) – “Playing against Real Madrid is a special match, without a doubt. We’re happy to play this type of match because it means we’ve done our job well. A semifinal is very motivating. We’re ready to go out and reach another final.”
This was stated by PSG coach Luis Enrique ahead of the semifinal of the Club World Cup tonight (9 p.m.) at the MetLife Stadium in New York. Facing them is Real Madrid, led by former great Kylian Mbappé: “It’s the past, it’s behind us now, and I have nothing to add,” he curtly replied to those who asked him about his relationship with the 1998-born champion.
According to Luis Enrique, it’s “very difficult to analyze Real Madrid because Xabi Alonso has just arrived. We know his players are very strong individually, but this is just the beginning of his adventure in Madrid. I think he has everything he needs to be successful. I don’t know who the favorite is, but I’m sure it will be a great match.”
There was also time for a comment on the criticism leveled by Neuer and the German press at Donnarumma over the serious injury Musiala suffered after coming off the ball against the Italian goalkeeper in the quarterfinal match against Bayern: “Injuries in football have always happened and are part of a player’s professional life, but there were no bad intentions. Gigio is fine, even if he’s shaken. We wish Musiala a speedy recovery.”
PSG will not change its nature against Real Madrid: “It’s our philosophy that allowed us to win the Champions League, so we won’t change it. It’s clear that you have to adapt to the opponent, but above all, you have to take into account what you want to do on the pitch,” Luis Enrique assured.
