RABAT (MOROCCO) (ITALPRESS) – North Macedonia considers the Autonomy Plan, presented by Morocco in 2007, “as the only basis for resolving the Sahara dispute.” This is stated in a joint statement signed today in Skopje by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Macedonian counterpart Timco Mucunski, according to the MAP news agency. Mucunski reiterated his country’s support for the United Nations process for a “political, just, lasting, and mutually acceptable” solution.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to the UN’s leadership role and support for Security Council Resolution 2756 (October 2024), as well as the work of the Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy to advance the political process. Along with Macedonia, over 123 UN member states support the autonomy initiative as a solution to the Sahara dispute, including 24 European Union members.
