TRIPOLI (LIBYA) (ITALPRESS) – Joint efforts to preserve and protect Libya’s cultural heritage continue, as the Italian archaeological mission from the University of Palermo advances its fieldwork at the “Villa del Mare (New)” site in the ancient city of Sabratha, on the country’s western coast.
The project is part of an ongoing and fruitful collaboration between the Libyan Department of Antiquities, represented by the Sabratha Antiquities Authorit and the Italian mission. Researchers and technicians from the Sabratha Antiquities Authority are working side by side with their Italian counterparts to exchange expertise and document the findings.
According to the Libyan Department of Antiquities, this joint effort provides vital support to its mission of preserving the archaeological treasures that abound in Sabratha, a city that stands as a testament to Libya’s deep human, historical, and cultural legacy.
The Department’s Press Office told Italpress that the continuation of such specialised international missions reflects confidence in Libyan expertise, contributes directly to the protection and documentation of the nation’s archaeological heritage for future generations, and strengthens Libya’s standing on the world heritage map.
