BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – “I have always tried to play a mediating role. Now we are in a situation where the Super League is in dialogue with UEFA. Aleksander Ceferin has appointed some UEFA officials to speak with Super League representatives, including CEO Bernd Reichart. We are reaching a principle of agreement, divided into three blocks, and the one with the greatest coordination is the one related to the technological platform.”
Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, in an interview with “Mundo Deportivo” said that about the Super League project—where only the Blaugrana and Real Madrid remain—is more alive than ever; indeed, there is even an opening from Nyon.
“I think it’s good news, and there’s good will on both sides. Barça is in favor of dialogue, and within the Super League we’re pushing for an agreement. I believe that, for the good of football, it’s positive that an agreement is reached as soon as possible. There’s a ruling from the Court of Justice of the European Union that endorses the Super League’s position. I think this is important, but even more important is that the football world remains united. Now I see a great deal of openness from the UEFA president. We’re working on what we wanted from the beginning: not a conflict, but an improvement of European football. There’s room for a shared agreement.”
