LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Sunderland are strongly targeting Matteo Guendouzi. The Black Cats are not the only ones interested—Aston Villa and Newcastle are also in the race—but according to the English outlet TEAMtalk, the newly promoted Premier League club has placed the Lazio midfielder at the top of its wish list for the January transfer window.
The British site also reports that club president Lotito might let the player leave for around 30 million euros, but beyond negotiations, Maurizio Sarri—an admirer of the Frenchman—would still need to be convinced. Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris knows Guendouzi well, having coached him in Lorient’s youth academy, and last week, according to TEAMtalk, he confirmed the interest: “We’re monitoring several players, and Matteo is one of them. I previously worked with him at Lorient, and we’ve stayed in touch.”
Napoli are also reportedly interested in Guendouzi, but if he were to leave, the Premier League would likely be his most probable destination. Meanwhile, Lazio, TEAMtalk assures, are looking around and have identified Fabbian and Ferguson as possible replacements.
