Spartak Moscow sack manager Dejan Stankovic

MOSCOW (RUSSIA) (ITALPRESS) – A harsh outburst in Italian during a post-match interview, followed by a divorce. Dejan Stankovic is no longer the coach of Spartak Moscow. The Russian club announced the news in a press release.

Spartak Moscow and coach Dejan Stankovic are terminating their partnership by mutual agreement. The Serbian coach has been in charge of Spartak since last summer. The Red and Whites finished fourth in the Russian Premier League in the 2024/25 season. In the Russian Cup, Spartak came within one point of reaching the final at the Luzhniki Stadium. The Red and Whites are currently sixth in the league, which does not satisfy the club’s management. The decision to part ways was made by mutual agreement.”

Spartak also announced that Vadim Romanov has been appointed interim coach. Returning to Stankovic, in a video that immediately went viral, the former Inter midfielder responds harshly to a Russian journalist, first speaking in English, then closing the outburst in Italian.

Why are you provoking me with this question? Do you know anything about football? Do you know what lineup I played with, why I made those substitutions? You don’t know anything,” he says, addressing a journalist, while the interpreter at his side translates his words. “You only know how to talk bullshit. You, like the others, only know how to make a comment about the referee,” a visibly nervous Stankovic says.
