LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Racism strikes again. The latest victim of online abuse is Brian Brobbey, Sunderland striker, who received racist insults on social media following the 1–0 victory over Tottenham, particularly after an incident involving a push on Romero, who then collided with his own goalkeeper and was reportedly injured.

According to British media, the insults are believed to have originated mainly from Argentina, but regardless of their source, Sunderland and the Premier League have united in condemning the incident.

The club highlighted the “constant and unacceptable frequency of this type of behavior. We have reported the abuse to the Premier League, social media platforms, and the police, and we expect immediate action against those responsible. We stand firmly alongside Brian and offer him our full and unconditional support. The recent abuse directed at Romaine Mundle and Lutsharel Geertruida highlights the unacceptable and persistent nature of this behavior, both inside stadiums and online. Racism is abhorrent and has no place in our sport or in society, and we will continue to call it out clearly and unapologetically whenever it occurs. Football must be a safe and inclusive environment for everyone, without exception.”

For its part, the Premier League stated: “We are disgusted by the ongoing discrimination that players suffer on social media. We are committed to working with clubs, authorities, law enforcement, and social media companies to tackle this issue, as well as supporting investigations to ensure those responsible are brought to justice. Any individual identified and found guilty of discrimination will face the strongest possible consequences, including prison sentences, stadium bans, and criminal sanctions.”
