Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso: “The Vinicius case is closed, no punishment”

MADRID (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – Case closed. On the eve of the match against Valencia, Xabi Alonso puts an end to the Vinicius issue, which involved him reacting badly to being substituted during the El Clasico, only to later publicly apologize.

“We had a meeting with everyone on Wednesday, and Vinicius was impeccable. He spoke honestly, and for me, the case is closed,” the Real Madrid coach assures. “Did he mention everyone in his statement except me? He spoke from the heart. The most important thing is what he said, and I was very satisfied. As of Wednesday, the matter is closed. There will be no punishments.”

The issue surrounding the Brazilian striker almost monopolized the press conference, but “I think I’ve already given sufficient explanations, the matter is closed as of Wednesday. We’re coming off a very good week. What worries me is Valencia.

Even the renewal issue, according to Xabi Alonso, will not affect the player. “I see him as very focused, with a lot of desire. He played a great game the other day. Am I worried it could happen again? I think the team, and everyone, including Vinicius, are focused on what’s most important. I try to be myself. You have to be authentic, not try to fake anything, always think of the best for the team, always maintain a good relationship, respectfully, but knowing that not everyone is the same. You need emotional intelligence.”
