LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – “I love England and its football culture.” These were the words of Mauricio Pochettino, interviewed by L’Équipe. The Argentine coach, now head coach of the United States—one of the upcoming host nations of the World Cup—spoke again about his past and English football.
“For anyone with a competitive spirit who wants to measure themselves against others and test their abilities, this is the ideal place,” Pochettino said about England. The former manager of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC, who last summer had ruled out a return to Spurs as a replacement for Postecoglou, also confirmed that his former club—and others—had contacted him in 2021, when he was coaching Paris Saint-Germain.
With Tottenham struggling, calls from fans for the Argentine coach’s return are growing louder. For his part, Pochettino is happy in the United States, as he also reiterated about a year ago to the BBC, and is now solely focused on the home World Cup awaiting the U.S. national team.
“I think I will return to the Premier League one day,” Pochettino had also said, not ruling out any possibility.
