BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – “Everything went well, in fact, perfectly.” Belgian physiotherapist Lieven Maesschalck confirmed to the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, upon leaving the Deurne hospital, that the surgery undergone by Kevin De Bruyne was a complete success.

The Napoli midfielder, who on Saturday against Inter suffered a high-grade tear of the right hamstring while taking the penalty that temporarily made it 1–0, underwent surgery today performed by Geert Declercq, the trusted doctor of Belgium’s “golden generation.”

De Bruyne will begin his rehabilitation tomorrow at Move to Cure, the Antwerp clinic run by Maesschalck. “The goal is, of course, for him to come back at his best. How will we approach it? We don’t know yet. Tomorrow we’ll discuss exactly what the rehabilitation will involve. But the surgery went well,” the physiotherapist added, noting that recovery is expected to take between three and five months.
