Morocco to host first International Conference dedicated to African victims of terror

RABAT (MOROCCO) (ITALPRESS) – The Kingdom of Morocco will host the first International Conference dedicated to African victims of terrorism on December 2–3, 2025, a major event aimed at highlighting the human consequences of terrorism in Africa and strengthening support and resilience mechanisms across the continent.
Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, with the support of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the conference is an unprecedented initiative that places African victims of terrorism at the centre of the strategic debate on preventing and combating violent extremism.

The gathering in Rabat will bring together representatives of African governments, international and regional organisations, associations representing victims of terrorism, researchers and experts. Discussions will also focus on the crucial role played by survivors in prevention and resilience initiatives, through their testimonies, experience, and contributions to rebuilding affected communities.

Participants will address key issues such as the human impact of terrorism and the legal, institutional and socio-economic challenges involved in assisting victims. The event forms part of the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, exemplified in particular by the opening in Rabat of the UNOCT Programme Office for Africa.

Now a leading continental platform, this office promotes an African approach to counter-terrorism based on solidarity, capacity-building and national ownership of public policies. With this initiative, Morocco reaffirms its commitment to a solidarity-driven, human-centered and inclusive approach to counter-terrorism, placing victims and their rights at the heart of regional and international action.
