MANCHESTER (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – It may not be an official announcement, but it’s very close. Like De Bruyne a year ago, Bernardo Silva is also set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, once his contract expires. Pep Lijnders, Guardiola’s assistant, hinted that the 31-year-old Portuguese is preparing to end his experience at the Etihad.
“Bernardo Silva is unique: for the way he controls matches, how he moves, how he receives the ball, how he leads the team, how he sees solutions. When he doesn’t play, you can see how much he’s missed—imagine an entire season… But every beautiful story has an end, and I hope he enjoys these final months and that it will be a beautiful farewell; he deserves all the recognition.”
Having arrived from Monaco in 2017 and now reaching 450 appearances with the City shirt, Bernardo Silva has been linked with Juventus and Barcelona, while his place could be taken by Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
“But you never look for an identical replacement for a player; you look for what the team needs to grow and someone who can fit into the starting eleven,” Lijnders commented.
