Maltese activist Aquilina pays tribute to Giovanni Falcone in Palermo

LA VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Robert Aquilina, a leading anti-corruption activist and representative of the Falcone Foundation in Malta, traveled to Palermo to take part in a solemn commemoration marking the anniversary of the assassination of Italian anti-mafia judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo, and the police officers who were escorting them on May 23, 1992.

Aquilina drew a poignant parallel between the assassination of Judge Falcone and the murder of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. “Giovanni Falcone was brutally killed using the same infamous method by which Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered in our country,” Aquilina stated, referencing the use of a car bomb in both attacks. He emphasized the moral responsibility borne by all citizens to carry forward the fight for justice and truth. “Each one of us has a moral duty to continue the fight for which these heroes gave their lives,” Aquilina said, underscoring the enduring legacy of both Falcone and Caruana Galizia in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
