STRASBOURG (FRANCE) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia “dedicated her entire life to the pursuit of truth,” and now “the truth must prevail” regarding her murder. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made these remarks during her closing statement in the debate following the State of the Union address at the plenary session in Strasbourg. Von der Leyen noted the anniversary of the journalist’s assassination, adding that she “inspired the drafting of our Media Freedom Act.” “We continue to monitor this case closely,” the EU Commission President added.
