VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Malta registered just 439 asylum applications in 2024, its lowest figure since 2010, according to the European Union Agency for Asylum’s (EUAA) Asylum Report 2025. This marks the fifth consecutive annual decline, positioning Malta 26th among EU+ countries for total applications. Despite the drop, Malta’s recognition rate remains high at 40%, well above the EU average. Per capita, Malta ranks 18th, with applications representing less than 0.1% of the EU’s total.
