VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela has welcomed the agreement reached between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Gaza. Writing on social media, Abela said Malta was encouraged by the deal, which includes the release of Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas.
He noted that Malta’s government, which recently recognised the State of Palestine, viewed the development as a positive step towards peace. Abela stressed that long-term stability in the region could only be achieved through a two-state solution. He urged all parties involved to work towards an arrangement that respects the rights and aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians. “Peace can only come from dialogue and mutual recognition,” Abela said. Malta has consistently advocated for a negotiated settlement, supporting international efforts to resolve the decades-long conflict. The Prime Minister reiterated that the current agreement should pave the way for wider discussions on lasting coexistence in the region.
