ROME (ITALPRESS) – A U.S. delegation will visit Libya on June 18, starting its trip in the capital, Tripoli, and then proceeding to the Parliament in Benghazi. This was announced by Ali Takbali, a member of the Libyan Parliament, to the Italpress news agency.
Takbali explained that during the visit, the delegation will discuss the path toward the Berlin Conference, as well as the issue of the dismissal of former Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh. The visit comes at a time when the international community is preparing to hold a high-level meeting in the German capital, Berlin, on June 19, as part of ongoing efforts to overcome the political deadlock in Libya and to support United Nations initiatives for a comprehensive solution.
The Berlin meeting will focus on discussing a new political roadmap aimed at forming a unified government with international backing and local consensus, tasked with overseeing the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections within an estimated period of four to six months. This process could lead to the end of political division and the cessation of the two rival administrations led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh and Osama Hamad. These efforts reflect the international community’s desire to stabilize security and peace in Libya, opening a new phase that strengthens national institutions and fulfills the Libyan people’s aspirations for peace and development.
