ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I love what I do now. I don’t miss being a coach. I don’t miss standing in the rain for two and a half or three hours. Nor do I miss attending three press conferences a week.” Jurgen Klopp reiterates once again that he has no regrets about his decision, even though he leaves a glimmer of hope for a return to Anfield.
“I’ve already said I would never manage another team in England, which means if I were to return, it would be Liverpool,” he said during the “Diary of a CEO” podcast. Now head of football at the Red Bull Group, Klopp reveals that he turned down Manchester United in 2013.
“The year Sir Alex Ferguson retired, they contacted me. Obviously they were interested. But it wasn’t the right time. I had a contract with Dortmund and I wouldn’t have left for anyone at that time.” But that wasn’t the only reason he turned him down. “The people I talked to said things I didn’t like: ‘We have all the players we want. We have this, that, and this…’ And I was sitting there thinking… It wasn’t my plan.”
