VALLETTA (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Malta continued to hit the headlines as international stars chose the island to perform, with global pop icon Katy Perry delivering a spectacular headline show at Isle of MTV Malta 2026 before tens of thousands of fans at Il-Fosos, Floriana.
Making her long-awaited Malta debut, Perry treated the packed crowd to a 90-minute performance featuring career-spanning hits, including California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Roar and Firework, alongside her new single Watch It Burn.
The singer combined high-energy choreography, elaborate office-themed visuals and frequent crowd interaction, keeping the audience singing and dancing throughout the evening.
One of the night’s standout moments came when Perry waved the Maltese flag before jokingly recreating her recent Blue Origin space flight, pretending to plant the flag on the Moon to the delight of fans.
She also joked that she “should probably learn Maltese”, earning loud applause from the audience, while encouraging concertgoers to stay hydrated during the record-breaking heatwave.
Another highlight saw Perry climb inside a giant inflatable water bottle and crowd-surf above fans, recreating one of her viral tour moments that has become a sensation on social media.
The show also featured acoustic performances, fan participation, costume changes and a colourful finale with fireworks.
Joining Perry were DJ and producer AFROJACK and Maltese singer AIDAN. Now in its 18th year, Isle of MTV Malta is organised by MTV in partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority and is billed as Europe’s largest free summer music festival. The 2026 edition will be broadcast internationally on September 18.
