GKSD signs two memorandums with Gabon, focusing on healthcare and social housing

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Two Memorandums of Understanding were signed today in Rome between the Republic of Gabon and GKSD Investment Holding. The agreements were signed at the Saint Regis Hotel in the capital by Gabon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regis Onanga Ndiaye, and the President of GKSD Investment Holding, Kamel Ghribi. The signing took place in the presence of the Head of State of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.

The first agreement concerns the healthcare sector, with the main goal of developing a modular hospital project in Gabon as part of the country’s national strategy to strengthen its public health system. The hospital will feature a sustainable, modular, and replicable design that can be implemented in multiple regions of the country.

It will offer comprehensive services, emphasising healthcare cooperation, including training programmes for Gabonese doctors both in Italy and locally, visiting doctor programmes access to advanced medical services within Italy’s San Donato Group, as well as telemedicine, strategic consulting, and innovative care models.

The partnership also includes collaboration in design, construction, and logistics. Special attention will be given to energy and environmental sustainability, with commitments to renewable energy use, energy efficiency, ecological waste management, and environmental certification. The agreement also provides for cooperation in the supply of goods and services required for the project. Within 30 days, a joint task force will be created to define plans, timelines, and operational procedures. The agreement will last three months, with the possibility of extension.

The second agreement focuses on a social housing project in Libreville, aligned with Gabon’s National Urban Development Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals. The main project envisions the construction of an urban neighbourhood for about 25,000 residents over an area of 110 hectares. It will include schools, sports facilities, places of worship, commercial spaces, a smart clinic, cultural areas, road networks, and public parks.
The signing of the two memorandums marks the first milestone of business collaboration between GKSD and Gabon, bringing to fruition an idea conceived during the seventh edition of the ECAM Council held in New York last September.

“We met with the promise to contribute to Gabon’s growth,” said GKSD President Kamel Ghribi during the ceremony. “Italy is a partner and a friend,” added Gabon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, who described today’s signing as “the beginning of a beautiful adventure.”
