BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – “Impressive”. Hansi Flick uses this term to describe the emotions he felt during the celebrations for winning La Liga. The tour of the city streets in the open-top bus impressed him and that is where his press conference on the eve of the match with Villarreal began.
“Seeing the happy faces of the people was wonderful, it is fantastic to read in their eyes the passion they have for Barça, it would be nice to experience these emotions every year – says the German coach laughing -, maybe we will do it next season too”.
After having put the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa in their trophy cabinet, the Blaugrana won the league well in advance and Flick can think about the last matches with the utmost serenity, but his concentration for the match with Villarreal is still high.
“They are having a great end to the season and are playing good football, it will be a difficult match, but we want to win it to celebrate the title at home in front of our fans, we want to finish as champions, at home in 2025 we have never lost and we want to continue like this”.
Flick is thinking about next season and can’t wait to play at Camp Nou. “We have to wait, I don’t know when it will happen, but I want to live this experience, but now there will be the holidays and when we return we’ll see, in the meantime I can say that at Montjuïc we also had a wonderful experience”.
Proud of his team, Flick underlines: “I’m proud of the environment that was created, we are a family, we wanted to work in the right atmosphere to make the players perform at their best and we succeeded, they believed in what we proposed and they had fun, maybe getting tired but they enjoyed it”, says the German who, without referring to the disappointment in the Champions League semi-final against Inter, knows well where they need to improve.
“This is the first year of working together, but with time it is easier to have an impact. I hear talk of defense, but we defend and attack all together and everyone knows what type of football we want to play. We also did well from a physical point of view, look at Pedri and De Jong, they played incredibly in the last matches”.
