ROME (ITALPRESS) – The legal dispute between FIFA and Lassana Diarra, which had reached the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), has been settled through an agreement between the parties. The news was reported by the Spanish newspaper AS.
“Following the comprehensive agreement reached, Mr. Lassana Diarra and FIFA have resolved all legal matters between the parties. FIFA has neither acknowledged any liability nor made any compensation payment. FIFA will not provide any further comments at this time,” the world governing body told AS.
The case dates back to 2014, when the former midfielder unilaterally terminated the four-year contract he had signed a year earlier with Lokomotiv Moscow. FIFA subsequently imposed a fine of €10.5 million on the player.
However, in 2024, after a lengthy legal battle, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled in Diarra’s favor, calling into question the regulations governing player transfers.
