De Bruyne warns Manchester City ‘I shouldn’t play Club World Cup’

MANCHESTER (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Kevin De Bruyne will probably not play the Club World Cup with Manchester City. The Belgian midfielder himself revealed this in an interview after City’s defeat against Crystal Palace in yesterday’s FA Cup final.

The 1991-born player’s contract with the English club is expiring and for these reasons, in fact, the problem could be bureaucratic in some ways, since it is scheduled from June 15 to July 13, 2025. The Citizens are in the group with Wydad AC (Morocco), Al Ain (United Arab Emirates) and Juventus. “It makes no sense”, De Bruyne said.

“This is what happens when you introduce new tournaments in the middle of a contractual situation. I have to take care of myself because if I get injured in the Club World Cup, what could I do? No one would take care of me at that point. So there is a big chance I will not play. I don’t make the rules, I can’t do anything about it”.

De Bruyne is considering whether to continue playing at the highest level: “I will make my decision when I am ready or comfortable to do so. I want to finish these two games and make a decision, but it is not that easy. I have to take care of my family. I have three children, my wife, it is not an easy process at the moment”, concluded the Belgian, who has been linked to Napoli for several weeks.
