LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Changes are afoot regarding Chelsea’s ownership. Chairman Todd Boehly and Mark Walter have sold their respective stakes in the club—12.8% each—to majority shareholder Clearlake Capital, which already held a 61.5% share of the Blues.
Swiss national Hansjörg Wyss remains a minority shareholder with his 12.8% stake. Clearlake, led by co-founders Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano, will thus assume total control of the club, while Boehly—who acquired Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in 2022 for £2.3 billion after the UK government froze Abramovich’s assets due to his ties to Putin—will step down as chairman.
Additionally, Boehly and Walter (who last month also sold the Lakers for a record $12.5 billion, just a year after purchasing them) have sold their stakes in Strasbourg, a partner club of Chelsea.
This marks the end of the Blues’ first post-Abramovich chapter, a period during which the team’s best Premier League finish was fourth place (2025)—a season that did, however, see them win the Conference League and the Club World Cup.
