ROME (ITALPRESS) – Barcelona could face a fine in next season’s Champions League for having violated UEFA’s financial fair play for the second year running. The Times claims so, according to which, for the same reasons, Chelsea and Aston Villa could also be sanctioned, albeit with a lighter penalty, as it is their first violation.
The sanction inflicted on the Blaugrana, according to the British newspaper, could materialize in the registration of a limited number of players in the competition or a points deduction for the following season.
In October, Barcelona lost an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a fine of 500,000 euros for having misdeclared their profits. The CAS said at the time that the sanction was light but would be more severe in the case of a “recurrence”.
And according to The Times, a second violation has been committed. UEFA will provide details of the teams that have not respected the financial rules in the coming weeks.
