BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – “Bastoni el elegido.” In other words, the chosen one—the player at the top not just of a wish list, but of concrete transfer targets. The Catalan newspaper Sport features a photo of Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni alongside that definition (“El elegido”) to emphasize Barcelona’s strong interest in the Italian international.
Bastoni is appreciated by both coach Flick and sporting director Deco, the latter having been working for months to bring the Nerazzurri defender to Barcelona. According to Sport, there is confidence about the possibility of completing the deal, also because Deco has reportedly already met with the player’s agents, ending the meeting with “positive feelings.”
Barça hope and believe they can finalize the transfer. The asking price is said to be around €60 million, but president Laporta and his team could include a player as part of the deal. Inter are believed to have identified Gerard Martín as a suitable counterpart, although Barcelona are not fully convinced.
Liverpool are also interested in Bastoni, but if he were to leave Inter, the Blaugrana would currently be in the lead.
