MADRID (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – “I’m very calm, even last year a lot of things were being said but we’re only at the beginning of the season. My goal is to improve every day, give my best for the club and win here with my teammates. That’s all I have in mind.” Julián Álvarez, speaking to ESPN, brushed off transfer rumors linking him to Barcelona.
“I’m focused on the current season and on the World Cup, which is still a long way off, but given its importance it’s impossible not to think about it,” added the Argentine forward of Atlético Madrid.
Álvarez, in Barça’s plans, could be the ideal heir to Robert Lewandowski, now 37 and out of contract at the end of the season. However, the Polish striker wants to prove to the Blaugrana that he deserves a renewal despite his age, giving priority to Barça over any other offer.
Also keeping an eye on the situation is AC Milan: according to Sport, sporting director Igli Tare has contacted Álvarez’s agent, Pini Zahavi, to test the waters for next season.
