RIO DE JANEIRO (BRAZIL) (ITALPRESS) – “I’m honoured and proud to lead the best team in the world. I have a big job ahead of me”. Carlo Ancelotti is ready for the challenge. Having landed in Rio de Janeiro, the former Real Madrid coach has been presented as the new coach of the Selecao. “I’m delighted, the challenge is great. I’ve always had a special connection with this team… We’re going to work to make Brazil champions again”, he added.
Ancelotti admits that negotiations had already started two years ago, “then I signed the renewal with Real but this year they started again. I have always said that one day I would like to try the experience of being coach”. His son Davide will not accompany him this time: “He has ongoing negotiations with a European team and not it seemed right to take him with me. If he goes to coach a club I wish him the best, otherwise he can come back to us”.
The Emilian coach was also asked why he did not make the Italy coach instead. “Because Italy did not need a coach and because he never called me. Brazil was interested in me and called me. But next year both Brazil and Italy will be competitive again”.
