LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – He had kept his job despite the club’s relegation to the Championship last season, but following a difficult start to the campaign in England’s second tier, Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked.
West Ham have officially announced the decision in a statement published on their website, three days after their home defeat to West Bromwich Albion and on the eve of tomorrow’s away fixture against Cardiff.
“Following a thorough review of the start to the season in the EFL Championship, the Board of Directors has concluded that a change is necessary to ensure that the club’s objectives and expectations remain aligned with the targets set,” West Ham said.
The team, currently eighth in the league with 22 points from 13 matches, has been temporarily placed in the hands of Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville, who will take charge against Cardiff City.
According to the BBC, Scott Parker is expected to be appointed as the new manager. The former England international has previously coached Burnley, Bournemouth and Fulham.
As a player, Parker spent four seasons at West Ham.
