RIO DE JANEIRO (BRAZIL) (ITALPRESS) – A World Cup campaign that fell well short of both expectations and the dreams of an entire nation. Brazil’s round-of-16 defeat to Norway was a heavy blow, but despite the criticism, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) never wavered in its support for Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian coach—who former Italian Football Federation executives Paolo Maldini and Leonardo had hoped to bring in to manage Italy—is eager to bounce back and is already working on a new era for Brazil, with the 2030 FIFA World Cup as the ultimate target.
Ancelotti arrived in Rio de Janeiro yesterday to resume in-person activities and meet with the CBF’s national teams department to finalize the team’s planning. Beyond the September friendlies, Brazil’s next commitments include the World Cup qualifiers and the 2028 Copa América.
“We will begin building a new Seleção by monitoring and testing young players, while not ruling out some of those who were with us at the World Cup and who still have a lot to offer Brazil,” Ancelotti was quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper AS.
Also attending the technical meeting was Rodrigo Caetano, coordinator of Brazil’s men’s national teams.
“This marks the beginning of a new phase in our work. We will work hard to represent our country in the best possible way in all upcoming competitions, starting with the World Cup qualifiers and the Copa América,” Caetano said.
The plan is to create stronger synergy between the senior national team and Brazil’s youth national teams.
