ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I don’t think Paredes should be suspended.” Spain’s World Cup-winning midfielder, Gavi, told El Partidazo de Cope, revisiting the post-World Cup final brawl with the Argentine midfielder, who pushed his Barcelona counterpart to the ground. FIFA has opened an investigation, and any player or coach involved could face a suspension.
“It’s not a good image for children, but I think there’s also a more physical and aggressive side to football,” Gavi explained, adding that “the most logical thing would have been to simply send him off.” The Argentines involved also include Nahuel Molina, Thiago Almada, and assistant coach Roberto Ayala.
