BERLIN (GERMANY) (ITALPRESS) – Jurgen Klopp is now one step away from taking over the Germany national team. Last Saturday, the German Football Association confirmed it had reached a basic agreement with the former Liverpool manager to lead the Mannschaft, adding, however, that “an agreement must also be reached with Klopp’s current employer, Red Bull.”
Klopp is under contract with the Austrian company until 2029 as head of global soccer, and according to “Bild,” yesterday’s meeting in Munich brought the two sides closer together. Klopp’s future is said to have been discussed by Federal President Bernd Neuendorf and his deputy Hans-Joachim Watzke with Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff.
The Austrian company has reportedly expressed its willingness to release Klopp, with the details of the contract termination to be discussed between the coach and Mintzlaff himself in the coming days in New York, where the former Liverpool player is working as a TV commentator for the World Cup.
At that point, with no further obstacles, Klopp could become the new Germany coach until after the 2030 World Cup, with a salary similar to that of his predecessor, Julian Nagelsmann, around €7 million per year.
