Malta’s Foreign Minister meets Palestinian PM ahead of Gaza donor talks

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Foreign Affairs Minister Chris Fearne met Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Brussels, where the two discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Malta and Palestine.

The meeting took place ahead of a session of the Palestine Donor Group, which is being held in Brussels on Tuesday.

In a message posted on social media, Fearne said the discussions focused on enhancing ties between the two sides while also preparing for the donor meeting.

The Palestine Donor Group is expected to discuss international support aimed at enabling the Palestinian Authority to regain early control of Gaza.

The talks form part of ongoing diplomatic efforts involving international partners to coordinate assistance and support for the Palestinian Authority amid the continuing challenges in the region.

Malta and Palestine have strengthened their diplomatic ties in recent months following Malta’s formal recognition of the State of Palestine in September 2025. Earlier this year, Malta’s Representative to Palestine, David Muscat, presented his credentials to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, reaffirming both sides’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation and supporting efforts towards a two-state solution.
