Canada rejects Partey’s appeal, the Ghanaian player will be ruled out of the match against Panama

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Thomas Partey will not be eligible for Panama. The Ghanaian midfielder, who will face trial for rape in Great Britain next year, was recently denied an entry visa by Canadian immigration authorities and filed an emergency appeal.

Judge Roger Lafrenière rejected the request in Ottawa, upholding local regulations and deeming Partey had failed to demonstrate the existence of the grounds for an emergency order. “I have not been convicted of any crime. I have pleaded not guilty and continue to be presumed innocent,” Partey defended himself.

However, the Villarreal midfielder will not be available for the Black Stars’ World Cup opener, which will be played tonight in Toronto. Partey, however, has been granted entry to the United States for both Ghana’s training camp and the two matches against England and Croatia, scheduled for Boston and Philadelphia respectively.
