TIRANA (ALBANIA) (ITALPRESS) – Rolando Maran is the new coach of Albania. The Albanian Football Federation has announced the departure of Brazilian Silvinho and a return to the “Italian job,” selecting the Trentino-born coach, born in 1963 and formerly of Catania, Chievo, Cagliari, Genoa, Pisa, and Brescia, among others. Before Maran, other Italians have led Albania, from Dossena to De Biasi, from Panucci to Reja. The Federation’s president, Armando Duka, presented him, announcing the signing of a two-year contract, listing among his objectives “first place in the Nations League and qualification for the European Championship.”
“I would like to thank the president for entrusting me with a role that is so important to me. I also thank Sylvinho and congratulate him on his work. I have followed the Albanian national team closely, and they have achieved great things,” Maran said. “The president is giving me the opportunity to lead a national team that represents a very proud people. It is a great honor for me, and my promise is to convey this great love for the nation and for this jersey on the pitch. My staff and I will give our all.”
