The referendum, which provides for the separation of the careers of judges and prosecutors, has been promoted by the current government, arguing that it will allow for greater transparency and accountability of the judiciary, while opposition parties are calling for a "no" vote. ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Fosse per me, abolirei il potere di iniziativa disciplinare del ministro, attribuendola al solo procuratore generale della Cassazione”. Lo ha detto il ministro della Giustizia, Carlo Nordio, in un’intervista a Il Sole 24 Ore. “L’iniziativa del ministro della Giustizia, in questo ambito delicato, dev’essere estremamente limitata – aggiunge – proprio per evitare il sospetto che vi siano interferenze politiche che vulnerino la sacrosanta indipendenza della magistratura”.
