These two countries, according to the ambassador, play a central role in regional balances: “When it comes to peace, stability, and security in the Mediterranean, I believe that Egypt and Italy are among the most important.” Rady emphasized how bilateral relations have now reached a particularly positive level, encompassing various sectors, from the economy to tourism, from culture to transportation, and even cooperation on security issues.

“In Egypt, we are proud that relations between our countries are better than ever,” he stated, also recalling the historical bond between two ancient civilizations, the Pharaonic and Roman. This relationship finds one of its main expressions in economic cooperation. Trade between Italy and Egypt has reached €6 billion, and over 150 Italian companies operate in the country.

“It’s not yet at the level we’d hoped for, but it’s still a positive result,” the ambassador explained, citing among the joint projects the maritime corridor between the ports of Trieste and Damietta, an infrastructure designed to foster trade and strengthen commercial links. According to Rady, Egypt is looking with interest at the contribution of Italian companies in the country’s infrastructural transformation.

“We appreciate Italian technology, your know-how, your commitment to doing business together, and Italian products,” he stated, emphasizing the opportunities still available in various economic sectors. Another key aspect of bilateral relations is tourism. After a decline in visitor flows in the years following the Arab Spring, the number of Italian visitors has returned to over one million.

“Twenty years ago, around one million Italians visited Egypt every year. Today, we have surpassed this number again,” the ambassador noted, highlighting Red Sea resorts such as Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Marsa Alam, as well as the northern coast, as the destinations of greatest interest to Italian travelers.

Among the topics discussed was the New Administrative Capital, one of the main projects of the Egyptian development program. “Ten years ago, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi launched a major national project to build over twenty new cities across Egypt. The new administrative capital is one of these, but it represents the crown jewel of the entire project,” explained the head of the diplomatic mission in Rome.

The new city, located east of Cairo, houses the government district and aims to accommodate millions of residents. For Rady, it also represents an opportunity for foreign investors: “It’s an opportunity for Italian entrepreneurs who wish to invest in Egypt,” he noted, calling the cooperation a win-win situation.

The ambassador finally referred to the broader process of modernizing the country’s infrastructure, which includes new road, energy, and water networks. “Egypt is experiencing a new phase in its history, what we call the New Republic,” he stated.

Within this evolution, relations with Italy remain a central element of Cairo’s foreign and economic policy. “We consider Italy our gateway and our main point of reference towards the European Union,” Radi concluded, reiterating the desire to continue on the path of cooperation between the two countries.

The latter option could gain momentum, given the strong relationship between the London club’s executives and those at Roma; Roma is interested in Alejandro Garnacho (currently with the Blues) and Diego Moreira (of Strasbourg, a club sharing the same owners as the London side).

The Malta Met Office said the intense heat is being driven by an “Omega Block”, a persistent high-pressure weather pattern bringing prolonged dry and settled conditions. Air temperatures are expected to reach 36°C by Sunday, while low humidity will push the “feels like” temperature close to 40°C.

Light winds of up to Force 3 are forecast, offering little relief. Despite the soaring temperatures, the Met Office said the current spell does not meet the technical definition of a heatwave.

The warning comes as the Malta Red Cross Society reported responding to several heat-related emergencies in recent days, particularly at beaches across the islands.

The organisation said the most serious incident involved a young person who suffered heatstroke, lost consciousness and required emergency medical assistance.

The Red Cross urged the public to take the extreme heat seriously by drinking plenty of water, wearing light clothing and hats, seeking shade whenever possible, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activity between 11am and 4pm.

Health authorities have also renewed their appeal for extra care, especially for older persons, young children and other vulnerable groups, as temperatures are expected to remain exceptionally high over the coming days.

The 53-year-old French coach, who took charge in March 2024, made history in local football by leading Haiti to the World Cup for the second time—the only previous appearance was in 1974—after winning their qualifying group ahead of Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. Drawn into Group C, Haiti exited the tournament with zero points, suffering defeats against Scotland, Brazil, and Morocco.

This was revealed during a meeting between Peruvian President-elect Keiko Fujimori and Moroccan Ambassador to Peru Amine Chaoudri, according to the Moroccan website Yabiladi. According to Fujimori’s office, the meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the new Peruvian government’s desire to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation with Morocco.

Fujimori also emphasized his full commitment to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, which establishes the autonomy initiative as the basis for reaching a definitive solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara.

Yabiladi notes that in August 2022, Peru announced, in a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its withdrawal of recognition of the Sahrawi Republic. However, then-president Pedro Castillo, a few weeks later, commemorated the first anniversary of the resumption of relations between his country and the Polisario Front with a post. Peru decided in September 2023 to permanently sever relations with the Polisario.

“I receive this award with deep gratitude and a great sense of responsibility,” Ghribi said. “I consider it a tribute to the daily work of the thousands of professionals at GKSD and Gruppo San Donato who, every day, place their expertise, passion and humanity at the service of people. I firmly believe that health, together with education, infrastructure and innovation, is one of the most effective instruments of cooperation between peoples and one of the fundamental pillars for building development, stability and peace.”

Ghribi’s participation in the ceremony forms part of his institutional mission to Washington, which includes a series of meetings with senior representatives of U.S. institutions and the American business community. The aim is to further strengthen dialogue between Italy and the United States and promote new opportunities for cooperation in healthcare, investment and innovation.

The Global Leadership Award represents a further international recognition of the path pursued by Ghribi and the GKSD-GSD Group, confirming the value of a vision based on cooperation, social responsibility and the belief that health is one of the main drivers of human progress and dialogue between nations.

Klopp is under contract with the Austrian company until 2029 as head of global soccer, and according to “Bild,” yesterday’s meeting in Munich brought the two sides closer together. Klopp’s future is said to have been discussed by Federal President Bernd Neuendorf and his deputy Hans-Joachim Watzke with Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff.

The Austrian company has reportedly expressed its willingness to release Klopp, with the details of the contract termination to be discussed between the coach and Mintzlaff himself in the coming days in New York, where the former Liverpool player is working as a TV commentator for the World Cup.

At that point, with no further obstacles, Klopp could become the new Germany coach until after the 2030 World Cup, with a salary similar to that of his predecessor, Julian Nagelsmann, around €7 million per year.

Although Curtis Jones is likely to leave Anfield this summer, Liverpool are in no rush to sell him. The 2001-born midfielder’s contract expires in 2027, and the English club is prepared to keep him if a suitable offer does not arrive. Furthermore, within the club, there are no doubts about the player’s behavior or professionalism, considering him a reliable asset even when he hasn’t been given much playing time.

If football has a purpose, it is to promote integration, and there is no better example than Spain and France.” Lamine Yamal made the remarks ahead of tonight’s World Cup semifinal, responding to comments by former Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who wrote in an editorial that the French national team “doesn’t have a single French player in its squad.” The statement prompted current Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to publicly distance himself from the remarks.

“There are far more complicated things in life than a football match. After the game, everyone will go on with their lives,” said the 19-year-old, who had already added spice to the fixture in recent days by saying he was not afraid of France.

“They asked me if I was scared, and I said no. But this is an extremely important match, and we’re very excited,” he added.

The meeting took place ahead of a session of the Palestine Donor Group, which is being held in Brussels on Tuesday.

In a message posted on social media, Fearne said the discussions focused on enhancing ties between the two sides while also preparing for the donor meeting.

The Palestine Donor Group is expected to discuss international support aimed at enabling the Palestinian Authority to regain early control of Gaza.

The talks form part of ongoing diplomatic efforts involving international partners to coordinate assistance and support for the Palestinian Authority amid the continuing challenges in the region.

Malta and Palestine have strengthened their diplomatic ties in recent months following Malta’s formal recognition of the State of Palestine in September 2025. Earlier this year, Malta’s Representative to Palestine, David Muscat, presented his credentials to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, reaffirming both sides’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation and supporting efforts towards a two-state solution.

Malta’s population reached an estimated 588,254 at the end of 2025, an increase of 2.4% over the previous year, according to figures from the National Statistics Office (NSO).

Net migration was the main driver behind the increase, with 13,906 more people arriving than leaving the country during the year. Non-EU citizens accounted for 78.1% of net migrants.

According to British media reports, the Red Devils are prepared to activate the midfielder’s €42 million release clause.

Tielemans has been with Aston Villa since 2023, having joined on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City. Since arriving at Villa Park, he has made 134 appearances and scored 10 goals, helping the club secure back-to-back UEFA Champions League qualifications as well as win the UEFA Europa League, scoring in the final against Freiburg.

The 29-year-old Belgian would become United’s second midfield signing of the summer. The club is also set to spend a further €58 million to sign Andrey Santos from Chelsea.

Lamine’s best performance is still to come at this World Cup. He is incredibly motivated—you only have to look at his face. He can’t wait to play. We just need to keep his eagerness under control because he must not be overwhelmed by his emotions. He is going through a process of gaining experience and maturity, something that Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland went through a few years ago. He is at that stage now, and we talk about it a lot. He will be a player who leaves his mark from now until the end of the World Cup.” Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente made the remarks to Cadena SER on the eve of his side’s World Cup semi-final against France.

“We have been fully focused on this tournament for 45 days. They have been 45 fantastic days—an extraordinary experience. I want to emphasize that we have spent 45 days together, and that has been wonderful,” De la Fuente added.

“At this stage of any international competition, France, like the other remaining teams, is one of the favourites to win. Reaching the semi-finals of a World Cup is extremely difficult. Every opponent is strong. We, too, are a highly competitive team. A place in the final is very much up for grabs,” the Spain coach continued.

“Compared with the European Championship match two years ago—also a semi-final, which Spain won 2-1—these are two completely different teams. It’s a different challenge, even though many of the players who were in Germany are still here. There will be new playing characteristics and different aspects to consider, both from a footballing and tactical point of view. I believe both teams have improved over the past two years,” the Spain manager concluded.

Hamada El Sherbini, a board member of the Egyptian Football Association, told the radio station Mega FM that the Federation is seriously examining the proposal in coordination with the relevant authorities and with the support of the political leadership.

“We are carefully considering hosting the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations. Our priorities at this stage are focused on this tournament,” El Sherbini stated, adding that Egypt possesses the necessary infrastructure to host major sporting events, including the World Cup and the Futsal World Cup.

The Federation official also explained that the matter was discussed during a Federation meeting, emphasizing confidence in Egypt’s ability to successfully organize the continent’s premier football competition. Egypt has already hosted the Africa Cup of Nations on five occasions: in 1959, 1974, 1986, 2006, and 2019.

According to local media, Forlán is expected to remain in the role at least until March 2027—when the federation holds its elections—thereby leading *La Celeste* through upcoming international windows. At that point, the Federation will decide whether to retain him or switch to another coach. A former forward for Manchester United, Atlético Madrid, and Inter, the 47-year-old Uruguayan retired in 2019 and has since had two brief managerial stints: with Peñarol in 2020 (11 matches) and subsequently with CA Atenas in the second division (12 matches) the following year.

Frazier is Malta’s former ambassador to the United Nations and currently serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict.
Speaking to the Times of Malta, Frazier said the New York Police Department investigated the threat.

The incident followed a June UN meeting during which Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon criticised the author of a report on alleged sexual violence involving Israeli forces, accusing her of being “obsessed with targeting Israel”.

Frazier intervened to condemn what she described as a personal attack on her colleague, an exchange that attracted international attention.
She said several death threats followed in the days after the confrontation, but one was deemed particularly credible.

“I received a very serious death threat, a credible one,” Frazier said, adding that the individual had taken deliberate steps to conceal their identity.
According to Frazier, UN security officials referred the case to New York police, who launched an investigation and later detained a suspect.
Following the exchange, Frazier also faced accusations from Danon and several social media users of promoting anti-Semitic content.
